Steven’s love of movement began on the stage as part of Theatre Beyond Words, a physical theatre company that took him on tour across North America, Europe and Asia. From a career in theatre he transitioned to ballroom dance and has never looked back. A graduate of the DVIDA Teacher Training program, Steven has been teaching full time in Toronto for several years.
Steven believes that dancing should be a fun, liberating and energizing experience that heightens awareness of the body and creates a unique connection between people. Practicing ballroom has made his life both more challenging and more rewarding and he wants to pass this experience on to his students.
Jone Lam began dancing at the age of 7 in his hometown Calgary, AB. Loving the sport of Ballroom dancing, and also a challenge, Jone began competing with his instructor at local competitions almost immediately after he began dancing. What started off as hobby soon blossomed into his life passion. Training hard and practicing daily have helped Jone earn the titles of Calgary Open Latin and Standard Champion, Alberta Latin, Standard, and 10 Dance Champion, Alberta representative to the Canadian Closed Championships, and Canadian representative to the World Youth Latin 2006. He even auditioned for CTV’s hit show “So You Think You Can Dance Canada” making top 60 in the finals. Although he had some great achievements, Jone was still striving for more. In 2009, determined to take his dancing to the next level, Jone made a leap of faith and moved to Toronto. He is currently training with a world-renowned Ballroom dancesport coach, Oleg Yedlin and has recently placed 5th at the Canadian Closed Latin Championships. To this day Jone is still actively training, dancing and pursing his life dream.
Kristina Kulikova began her dance career at a very young age of 6, when her mom, ex-gymnast, brought her to a Ballroom/Latin lesson. She fell in love with this art form immediately. Unfortunately, due to immigrating to Canada at the age of 8, from ex-USSR, her dancing was halted for a few years, until she began working at the age of 15 to further fund her passion. At this point it became a serious, competitive career, as she was blessed to train with one of the most renowned adjudicators and trainers in the world, Mr. Oleg Yedlin. Some of her accomplishments include the title of a North American Under 21 Latin Finalist, as well as most recently, placing 5th at the Canadian National Latin Dancesport Championships. Currently actively training and competing world wide, Kristina has always wanted to pass on her enthusiasm to just about anyone, who like her is simply infatuated with the beautiful world of Ballroom/Latin dancing. Ballroom on Bayview Dance Studio full-filled that desire, serving as nearly her second home in her heart, she admits that “teaching is one of the most rewarding professions anyone could hope for; to see the smiles on your student’s faces as they progress, is simply priceless”.

Ilinca was introduced to the world of dance and theatre at a very young age. Growing up with a ballet choreographer as a grandmother and a former gymnast as a mother, she was already performing at the age of 3. At the age of 6 she started playing the piano and music became a part of her life all the way through highschool. Ballroom came into her life only at the age of 10 but very soon it was the only thing filling up her spare time and becoming her passion. She became a National Amateur Romanian Championships Finalist and, together with her partner, was a top Romanian Amateur couple for several years. Upon her move to Canada in 2005, she had the opportunity to further develop her ballroom career, training and taking lessons with some of the World’s top teachers. This hard work paid off eventually and earned her the Rising Star Professional Latin Title at La Classique du Quebec. She was able to acquire pedagogical skills by assisting her grandmother in teaching ballet at only the age of 16, and later on by teaching ballroom. She loves to travel, learn foreign languages – she speaks Romanian, English, French, Spanish and is now picking up Russian. Between working as an office manager in two dance studios and practicing, she is currently finding time to finish her Fine Arts Cultural Studies degree at York University.
